Farewell to a Humble Servant of Faith

Date:

Reverend Griffiths Mpiliso March(75), a soft-spoken priest of Saint Philip’s Anglican Church in uMasizakhe, was laid to rest on Thursday, 16 April. Born on 14 December 1950, he passed away on 5 April, leaving behind a legacy of faith and service. The full St. Phillips church also attended and the service was conducted by the Diocese of George, Bishop Edwin Pockpas, and assisted by the venerable Archdeacon Rev. Zinakile Klaas.
Known as a humble and dedicated man, March once worked at the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, where he earned respect for his kindness and strong work ethic. He completed his schooling at the former Bantu Secondary School (now Nqweba) and began his career with Kimba Road Construction.

During the funeral, speakers described him as a man who lived the gospel through his actions. He devoted his life to serving others—visiting the sick, comforting the grieving, mentoring youth, and supporting the poor. His ministry extended beyond the church, touching lives in homes, hospitals, and communities.
Reverend March is remembered not only as a priest but as a spiritual father, friend, and mentor. He is survived by his wife Martha, his children Reginald and Matsediso, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
