Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in Robert Sobukwe Town, Aberdeen and Nieu-Bethesda recently benefited from a workshop aimed at helping practitioners improve and develop programmes for young children.
The workshop, held at Profcon in Robert Sobukwe Town, focused on the importance of ECD during the critical period from birth to seven years old. This stage is recognised as vital for children’s brain development and lays the foundation for future learning, health and behaviour.
The participating centres had identified a need for support and requested assistance to strengthen their programmes. The Rupert Foundation was appointed and funds were allocated to support the initiative, while Early Inspiration conducted the training.
The workshop provided an opportunity for ECD centres to share ideas and explore creative approaches to developmental programmes. Practitioners were encouraged to develop, improve and implement innovative ideas that can enhance the learning and development of young children.
Training facilitator Nonqaba Ntshona highlighted the broader importance of investing in ECD practitioners, parents and caregivers.
“By empowering parents, educators and caregivers, we are not only enriching the lives of individual children but also laying the foundation for a brighter future for our communities and our nation,” Ntshona said.
The initiative underlines the importance of quality early childhood programmes that bring together early learning, care, health and nutrition to give children a strong foundation for the years ahead.
The participants received certificates for attending and participating in the Practitioner Support Services.
