The annual Interschools clash between Union High School (UHS) and Hoër Volkskool (HVS) was once again a big success. HVS hosted this year’s prestigious derby, and most matches were therefore played on HVS facilities.
The result of the first girls’ hockey team went Union’s way. Played on HVS astro turf, after a hard fought match with some impressive display from both teams, UHS proved too strong with a convincing 2-0 victory.
The first boys’ match was played at Botanics sports ground. A vigorous and fast-paced match was enjoyed by many spectators, parents, and scholars. UHS was too strong on this occasion, managing a resounding 41-15 win over HVS. It was UHS first rugby team’s first interschools win since 2018.
