Police are continuing their search for suspects following a deadly shooting in the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi East on the Cape Flats.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening at a house in the settlement, where four people, three men and a woman, were shot and killed.
According to reports, two armed men entered the premises and fired several shots at the occupants inside the house. The gunmen fled the scene after the shooting. The motive for the attack has not yet been established.
Police have since launched an investigation into the incident, and no arrests have been made at this stage. Detectives from the Serious Violent Crime unit are working to identify the suspects and determine the circumstances surrounding the killings.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that officers are following up on all possible leads.
“The matter is still under investigation. No arrests have been made yet. Serious Violent Crime detectives are following up on all leads in a bid to make a breakthrough in the case. Anyone with information is requested to call Crime Stoppers.”
Authorities are urging members of the public who may have information that could assist investigators to come forward. Police hope that community cooperation will help them track down the suspects and bring those responsible for the killings to justice.
