Supporting a Rising Star – Thandolwam Ndishe

Date:

Thandolwam Ndishe is a determined and talented 19-year-old athlete from the small town of Graaff-Reinet. Currently a Grade 12 learner at Nqweba Secondary School, Thandolwam has shown remarkable dedication, discipline, and passion for athletics despite facing significant financial challenges.

From a young age, Thandolwam always had a love for running. However, his true potential was only discovered when Coach Mr. Daniel Goliath spotted him during a local parkrun event. Recognizing his natural ability and strong endurance, Coach Goliath invited him to join Cambdeboo Athletics Club, where his talent began to flourish under proper training and mentorship.

Since joining the club, Thandolwam has competed in various competitions, including events in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), consistently proving his strength and commitment to the sport. His hard work has paid off — he has qualified for the National Championships scheduled to take place in April from the 6th to the 8th. This achievement is a testament to his discipline and athletic excellence.

One of Thandolwam’s strongest performances is in the 3000m steeplechase, where he has recorded an impressive time of 10:33. This outstanding performance demonstrates his competitive potential at higher levels and marks him as one of the promising young athletes in his category.

Despite his success, Thandolwam faces serious financial obstacles. He lives with his single mother and two brothers. His mother is currently unemployed.
