Two farm workers were found dead inside a milk cooling tank at a dairy farm in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday afternoon, prompting an emergency response from local authorities and rescue teams.
Eastern Cape police, emergency medical services (EMS), and Fire Rescue personnel were called to the scene after the incident was reported. Rescue operations were carried out at the farm, where officials worked to recover the bodies from inside the tank.
According to reports, a police constable equipped with breathing apparatus was lowered into the milk cooling tank to safely retrieve the victims. The bodies of the two workers, aged 27 and 54, were successfully removed from the tank during the operation.
Both men were declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel. The circumstances surrounding how the workers ended up inside the tank have not yet been confirmed, and investigations into the incident are expected to continue.
