January Blues: Financial Stress Hits Home

Date:

January’s arrival often brings a dose of financial reality, especially for parents and the working class. The holiday season’s festivities are over, and parents are now staring down the barrel of back-to-school costs, increased bills, and those pesky credit card statements from December’s splurge. In South Africa, many are feeling the pinch, with rising living costs and stagnant wages making it tough to make ends meet.

For parents the pressure is on. With school fees, uniforms, and supplies adding up quickly, the financial strain is palpable.

And it is not just parents who are feeling it. Working-class individuals are also struggling to balance their books, with many having to make tough decisions about what they can and can’t afford. It’s a difficult time, but being aware of the challenges is the first step to tackling them. Creating a budget, cutting costs, and seeking support are all viable options for managing financial stress.
