Robert Sobukwe Town (Graaff-Reinet) – The Dr. Beyers Naudé Local Municipality recognised the dedication and commitment of its workforce by honouring active and retired employees for their service during a special awards ceremony held at the Botanics on Thursday, 30 August.
The event celebrated employees who have devoted more than 30 years of service to the municipality, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to serving local communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Speaker of Council Cheslyn Felix said the occasion was an opportunity to recognise employees who consistently serve residents with professionalism and excellence.
“The event provided us with an opportunity to recognise those who serve our communities with professionalism and excellence every day. We also honour our long-service employees for their years of loyal service, and acknowledge those who have successfully completed training and development programmes, demonstrating their commitment to continuous learning and growth,” Felix said.
He added that the awards represented more than simply receiving certificates of recognition.
“It is about showing appreciation, encouraging excellence and reminding every employee that their contribution is valued.”
Felix emphasised that every municipal employee plays an important role in building a stronger municipality and ensuring quality service delivery to residents.
The municipality congratulated all award recipients on their achievements and thanked them for their years of loyal service.
“May today’s celebration inspire us all to continue serving with dedication, integrity and pride,” Felix concluded.
The ceremony highlighted the municipality’s commitment to recognising the invaluable contributions of employees whose years of service have helped shape and strengthen local government while encouraging a culture of excellence within the organisation.
