Excitement is building as Asherville gears up to compete with its sister school Spandau secondary in Kroonvale this week in their annual interschools sports competition. The entire Asherville community gathered at the school premises when the teams were officially announced at the Big Brag event held on Monday evening, 27 July. MCowon Reid soccer team captain stated confidently “Last year was just practice; this year we will dominate”
First team Rugby captain, Ashwill-Lina Volontiya said “Dit gaan ‘n baie moeilike uitdaging wees, ons afrigters het ons goed voorberei vir tye soos die’ maar ons gaan die beste daarvan maak, en sterkte vir ons teenstanders en ons ander spanne van Asherville”
“It’s going to be a very difficult challenge, our coaches have prepared us well for times like these, but we’re going to make the best of it, and good luck to our opponentss and our other teams from Asherville”
Jayden Davids – Asherville secondary school 1st Netball team captain said “Tell Spandau to call the Sirens now. The Bloodline doesn’t knock. We are coming to move mountains with the whole Robert Sobukwe Town (Graaff-Reinet) watching. History knows the name Bloodline.”
