Camdeboo FA Edge Seven Stars in Thrilling ABC Motsepe League Clash

Date:

GRAAFF-REINET – Camdeboo Football Academy Development secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Seven Stars FC of Komani in an entertaining Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe Foundation League encounter played at the Botanics on Sunday, 1 February.

The match lived up to expectations as both sides displayed skill, intensity and determination throughout the 90 minutes. Camdeboo FA took the lead late in the first half when captain Mphuthumi Mthembu produced a stunning strike just before the break, giving his side the lead.

Seven Stars responded positively after halftime and wasted no time in drawing level. Shaydon Roland found the back of the net early in the second half, reigniting the contest and putting pressure on the home side.

The remainder of the match was fiercely contested, with both teams creating several goal-scoring opportunities. The high tempo and competitive nature of the game kept supporters on their feet, while the presence of fans and sponsors added to the lively atmosphere.

Camdeboo FA head coach Sanele Shozi praised his young squad for their performance, highlighting the impact of the Under-23 players.

“The talent, energy, tactical awareness and hunger our U/23 players brought into the game helped us secure the win. We must also consider the age factor. For our junior national teams to grow, there must be a greater pool for selection, and it is important to expose schoolboys to such opportunities. For me, that is the biggest victory any team can achieve,” said Shozi.

Both teams’ management expressed their gratitude to sponsors Blue Ribbon and Star Bakeries for their support, including donations of bread and goodies to the players.

Meanwhile, in another local football fixture played on Saturday, 31 January, FC Galaxy claimed a convincing 3–0 win over Portugal Birds FC in a Local Football Association League match at uMasizakhe Stadium.
