Nqweba Secondary School Hosts Inspiring Matric Tie Ceremony

Date:

Nqweba Senior Secondary School in uMasizakhe marked a significant milestone last Friday, 6 February – as it hosted its annual Matric Tie Ceremony, an event aimed at inspiring Grade 12 learners and reinforcing a culture of excellence within the school.

The ceremony, held at the uMasizakhe Community Hall, brought together 83 Grade 12 learners, parents, educators, School Governing Body (SGB) members, pastors from various denominations, representatives from the Department of Education, and community members. Despite the humid and hot conditions, the hall was filled with excitement and hope for the year ahead.

Addressing the audience, Principal Mr. Sakhekile Mkhosana encouraged learners to work toward building a better future for the school. “It is an honour to welcome you to this wonderful event as we are working towards making the Nqweba we want out of the Nqweba we have” he said. He emphasized the importance of dedication and resilience, adding that the ceremony marked the beginning of new achievements for the institution.

Mr. Mkhosana, who joined the school in August 2025, acknowledged the academic performance of the class of 2025. Although the school had set a target of achieving a 100% pass rate, the final results stood at 87.3%, slightly lower than the previous year’s 88.6%. Out of 63 learners who wrote the final examinations, 18 qualified for Bachelor’s degree studies, 26 achieved Diploma passes, and 11 obtained higher certificates.

Despite the slight decline in overall pass rate, the principal praised the learners’ efforts and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to continuous improvement. He described the Grade 12 learners as NPPA — Nqweba’s Priceless Precious Assets — highlighting the school’s belief in their potential.

During the ceremony, the 83 matriculants were officially roped with the Matric Tie 2026 – symbolizing responsibility, leadership, and academic commitment. The event concluded on a hopeful note, with renewed determination from learners, educators, and the broader community to strive for greater success in the coming year.
